Longtime collector, and state highway contract employee, Christopher Laughland, will present a lecture focusing on the development and evolution of traffic control devices. These devices were used in and around Baltimore County from the early 1900s to present.  He will give a presentation and slide show about the changes and progression of numerous devices used for maintaining traffic during road construction, such as old lanterns, road markings and signage.

With more than 2,600 miles of Baltimore County roads, 400+ bridges, interstates and highways, keeping both drivers and workers safe is a difficult job, and has required major innovations and technological evolution.
